People want to buy with their head but ultimately, at least in part, decide with their heart. The aesthetic and sentimental aspects of a real estate sale or purchase are an important component of a successful, meaningful and rewarding real estate transaction. Preparing and staging the product so that it touches people’s hearts and not just their heads is an essential factor to sell a house and make it feel like a home.
Ana Townsend serves both our buyer and seller clients with her expertise and experience in design, décor and attention to details. As a consultant and resource for buyers with interior design questions and as coordinator of the pre-listing preparations for listings with Sellers, Ana ensures CCP properties are always looking their best. Ana grew up in El Salvador and Guatemala where here passion for anything art or design related started at any early age. From primary school to the present, she loves helping people to prepare spaces so that they look and feel their best aesthetically –whether they be homes, schools, churches or public & private venues of all sizes.
Her attention to the details as well as her appreciation of being creative and working collaboratively were influenced in part by her entrepreneurial family which had small businesses in everything from farming to fashion and furniture. Helping her mom sell clothes throughout Central America and assisting her older brother to design/decorate window displays at retail stores as well as to create flower arrangements for special events led her to study Art & Interior Design at a Catholic University in Guatemala City.
After her studies there, she returned to El Salvador and worked in a furniture store that custom built and refurbished furniture. She then went to work for a commercial/office furniture supplier doing design, drawings and sales for business clients. Faith became an important part of Ana’s life in her late teenage years and she became actively involved in her Christian Church in Guatemala and then in El Salvador as well. That is where she met Jason in 1999 (who was working in El Salvador for a start-up telecom company). She and Jason married in early 2001 – which is when she moved to Washington, DC, and is also the year Jason started full- time real estate. From the time she arrived to DC, Ana stayed busy using her energy, friendliness, creativity, design experience and artistic talents.
She oversaw the design and full renovation of their circa 1875 Capitol Hill home and has been working alongside contractors ever since. She has been serving CCP clients over the years with décor and staging needs. She also has served her family as the wonderful mother of 3 daughters – Isabella, Ariana and Natalia (born in 2003, 2004 & 2009).
Ana is always involved with something at the girl’s school, her church (Capitol Hill Baptist Church) or elsewhere within Capitol Hill Community. Whether it is making flowers for a CCP listing/church wedding/school event or teaching Spanish to pre-schoolers or making costumes for a school play and more, Ana’s love for people, for art, for homes and for Community have been a blessing to the CCP Team and beyond.
